The call for papers is now closed and we no longer accept applications to present at the conference. However, if you would like to attend the AEMI conference as a participant, please fill out the electronic REGISTRATION FORM by September 1, 2014. The number of available seats at the conference is limited, so please register early!
The theme of the 2014 AEMI conference is “Migrants and Refugees – Then and Now”. Since AEMI members come from various fields and are interested in different aspects of migration, the conference presentations will address a wide range of both historical questions and contemporary issues, including forced and voluntary migration, social media, child migration, return migration, as well as documenting and preserving various migration histories around Europe.
The AEMI conference will take place in Riga, which this year holds the status of the European Capital of Culture, and is sponsored by the Riga 2014 Foundation. As such, the 2014 AEMI conference will be on of the many official European Capital of Culture events. In addition to attending the AEMI conference, the guests of the city will have the opportunity to become acquainted with Latvian culture, architecture, museums, and, if interested, with the high quality of Latvian music, fine arts, cinema and pop culture.
